Zimulti overview
Zimulti (rimonabant) has been specially designed for the treatment of obesity in people with BMI (body mass index) exceeding 25. This medicine works by affecting the chemicals in the brain that tell your body to overeat and crave nicotine. In addition to helping you lose weight Zimulti is known to improve a whole array of cardio-metabolic factors that affect your health and well being quite significantly. However, Zimulti is not going to be efficient if you simply take it. You are supposed to combine this medicine with a comprehensive treatment program that includes exercising and eating healthily. Your doctor will help you define which products should be excluded from your diet in order for you to be able to benefit form the treatment as much as possible.
Contraindications for taking Zimulti
Although Zimulti is a safe medicine to which only a few people may have an adverse reaction, you need to be especially cautious if you have a history of an allergic reaction to rimonabant (the active ingredient). If you take Zimulti in spite of your history of an allergic reaction, this could result in serious health effects, such as hives, rash, itching, difficulty breathing and so on. If you notice any of the effects mentioned, please make sure you notify your health care provider or seek medical help in your local emergency center. Every tablet of Zimulti may contain other ingredients besides rimonabant β inactive ingredients that give the tablet its shape. The following inactive ingredients can be found in a tablet of Zimulti: sodium laurilsulfate, titanium dioxide, lactose monohydrate, maize starch, and croscarmellose sodium. If you have known allergies to any of those β taking Zimulti is also not recommended. Also make sure you mention the fact of having such medical problems as impaired kidney function, liver problems, and a history of epilepsy, as these conditions may require a dose adjustment. Your health care provider will probably need top monitor you more carefully for side effects, or you will be recommended to have some additional tests done in order to establish how safe taking Zimulti is going to be in your particular case.
Drug interactions
Just like most medicines, Zimulti has been reported to cause interactions with a number of medicine. These interactions are bad because they can alter the effects of Zimulti and your treatment may not be as successful as it could be. Therefore, itβs recommended to avoid taking any new medications without discussing this step with your health care provider in advance. In order to prevent any unpleasant health effects, please tell your doctor if you are using or are going to use ketaconazole, carbamazeptine, ritonavir, telithromycin, clarithromycin, phenytoin, phenobarbital, itraconazole, nefazodone, or any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
Zimulti side effects
In most cases Zimulti is tolerated very well by most patients taking it. However, adverse reactions are still possible. You will need to make sure to report to your health care provider any reactions that seem strange or get more severe. However, in most cases you will get just a few mild side effects that can be disregarder as long as they go away on their own. The following mild side effects are sometimes possible: anxiety, dry mouth, irritability, nausea, dizziness, restlessness, depression, vomiting, irritability, nausea, anorexia, and sleep problems.
Zimulti and pregnancy
Pregnant women are supposed to talk to their health care provider before they start using this medicine, as Zimulti has been reported to harm unborn babies. In order to avoid health problems in your unborn or nursing baby you will need to use reliable methods of contraception throughout the entire period of the treatment.
